First day on optifast

Good afternoon everyone! Today is day one on optifast and so far I have had 2 shakes and both sakes came right back up :( the moment it hits my stomach , my stomach turns and next thing I know I'm puking... please tell me it gets better.... 

I'd call your clinic and see what they say.  You may also need to tell them how you make your shakes (temperature, amount of water etc) and how you feel when you drink them.  They'll tell you where to go from there.

Try making them frozen/slushie

Extra water and ice, blend it well. Used my bullet. If the smell gets you try a cup with lid and straw.

I just started opti yesterday so I am right where you are. My shakes have been ok. I have blended them with ice, used a cup with a lid and straw and most importantly added flavour. I added mint to the chocolate and caramel and hazelnut sugar free syrup to the vanilla.

Thanks for 5he suggestions , so far I have been able to keep half a Shake down , once I started feeling the urge to puke I just stopped drinking and figured I'd rather keep half down vs puking everything up again , I'm going to give it till Monday and if I still can't keep anything down then I will call my center and see what they suggest , 2 weeks isn't long but if it goes like today has went it's going to drag lol 

the good news is that you are so much  closer to surgery --- this is the gate opening up for you ... very exciting and I cannot wait for that time to start for me.

Thank you !  As far away as it seems for you, it will come before u know it, from my first appt with my family Dr asking for a referral- surgery date will be exactly 1 year .. it's still hard to believe how close I am now ! 

Yes! Exactly - waiting not so patiently over here! I was referred in February and hoping to have surgery around that time as well.

Are you puking because of the taste? Smell? Consistency? Or do you not mind the taste, smell and consistency but find yourself throwing up anyway? I've read that some people have a allergic type reaction and take something different instead of opti but the climb pays. 

I had to blend mine with ice and water in the magic bullet and blended it until smooth. I then plugged my nose and chugged it. 

Giod luck - oddly I craved opti a few times after surgery! Lol I missed the ease of not needing to plan my menu so far in advance.
