Endoscopy
So I have to go for an Endoscopy - only because I already have a gastric band - and they want to make sure everything is ok down there. They were shocked that I have had the band for 3.5 years and have never had one done.
I am a bit "scared" about this procedure.
I hope someone can calm my nerves a bit and die me some insight on what to expect?
Dana
I've had 2 within the last month because of strictures. I was terrified of getting one but its really not a very big deal at all.
They give you some IV sedation, not enough to knock you out but enough that you don't really remember much. They spray your throat with 2 squirts of a numbing spray and then they run the little camera down your throat - you really don't feel it, its just kind of awkward. When they are done they take you to recovery for a bit until they clear you to go home. you won't be able to drive so bring someone to get you home. You might have a little bit of a sore throat the next day.
I had one a few weeks ago and was very nervous! You lay on your side, they spray your throat with numbing spray then sedate you - next thing I knew I woke up in recovery. I don't remember a thing. Didn't feel a thing. The only 'evidence' that this happened was a minor sore throat and hoarse voice.
Good luck - the anticipation was the worst part - it's really not bad at all :)
