Update...still in the hospital....
Update to my update...I just got home!! Yay!!
They took out on of my drains, still have 1 in. I'll have it for a least a couple of weeks. Finally started to pass gas yesterday and that has been a life saver. Getting food in has been fine, no nausea. I'm eating maybe 4 medicine cups full at a meal. Trying to drink as much water as possible, otherwise.
I had an older man in the room next to me who made it his mission to scream at the top of his lungs, all night long. I finally asked for IV pain medicine at 2:30 just so I could get some sleep. Don't think I would have made it another night.
As for Dr. Klein and Humber River Hospital, I have no complaints. They put me at ease and took great care of me even with all of the complications (that Dr.Klein said was a first for him). He called in a liver specialist in the middle of my operation so that things got done correctly.
Hopefully this is not a silly question - but did you know you were having your gal bladder removed going into surgery? Was it something that had been giving you problems before hand? It's not something they discovered during the RNY?
I have had issues with my gal bladder - I'm told it's full of sludge, not yet formed into full stones. I'm wondering if I need to worry.
I hope you are feeling better. Take care.
I knew I was having my gall bladder removed. I had a major attack in February of 2015. It should have been removed then but the surgeon at the hospital found out I had begun the process for gastric bypass so he said it would make sense to wait and have it done at the same time. I now think that was amistake. Wednesday will be 4 weeks and I still have my drain in and could have it for 6 months until they decide to send meto a liver specialist which may result in another surgery. I don't know where you are in your process but I would ask because people who have weight loss surgery are at risk for gall bladder issues and considering you already have issues it may happen. Don't worry yourself about your gall bladder by my story. My complication is (from what I hear) a rare one. My surgeon (Dr.Klein) said this had never happened to him. I guess I was the lucky one, lol.
