Update...still in the hospital....
My surgery was on Wednesday. I had RNY and my gall bladder removed. Dr. Klein said my RNY went perfect...took 45 minutes and then came the problems. Apparently my gall bladder was so damaged and full of stones that my 2 hour total surgery time (for both surgeries) ended up being over 5 hours. I went into the OR at 11:30 and when I woke up in recovery and saw it was almost 6 pm, I thought it was a mistake. Wasn't until they brought my husband back to see me that I learned what happened. I have 2 drains still in me. 1 they will remove tomorrow. The other one may be in for weeks. I have to empty my bile and hopefully it will heal and have to be drained less. I've been in a lot of pain but thank God, I started to pass gas today, so that should help. As for my RNY they have me on the full fluid diet. I'm not very hungry but I can get my medicine cups down. They're concerned cause I'm not peeing so much. I'm trying to drink 30 mls of water every 15 minutes. Sorry if this TMI. It's a mess for me over here. But.things will get better!
You are so lucky they did the gall bladder , killing 2 birds with one stone. Much better than another procedure down the road. I had mine taken out years ago and I found it much more painful than the rny.
Keep working at those fluids.......and walking is best to get the gas out.
Take care. ...you are right........things will get better

Hi I had my Gall Bladder removed almost 10 yrs ago and found that to be a very easy no complications surgery. except for a post-op infection other than that I returned to work 4 days after the surgery ( a little to quickly lol) so it is very comforting to know the rny is even easier. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. Take good care and look after yourself. Rest is your friend right now. How long are they going to keep you in hospital?

Ouch, hope you feel better! My BF almost died from pancreatitis 2 years ago. He had his gallbladder removed and it seemed he was in more pain from that then I was from my RNY. Use the pain meds and sleep as much as you can!
