I had my surgery at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and my husband had to sleep on the floor =[

No TV for me either, but I was passed out most of the time anyways.

The post-bariatric surgery unit was all full, so I was in the trauma unit.

If my husband had to sleep on the floor, he would go home, lol. He spent the 3 nights with me when our son was born, he wasn't much good to me then (he's a heavy sleeper) so I don't expect much from him this time, lol. It's nice he is willing to stay though.

My husband would not leave my side.  He was freaking out when I was in PACU (post anaesthetic care unit, the place where they stabilize you after surgery).  He was apparently asking and asking when he could see me.  I was in a bit long because my blood pressure wouldn't go down for some reason.

He helped me with everything when the nurses were too busy and helped me with moral support.  He helped me get in and out of bed when I had trouble.  He was there to remind me to sip my juice/water every 15 minutes. He held my hand as I walked around the hospital.  He bought me a teddy bear for when I woke up (as I requested).  He offered to help me in the bathroom, but I was fine with that.  When I was having dark thoughts, I talked to him and he talked me through them.  Best husband evar.

At home, he was actively involved in cooking and finding foods that would go down well.  He was super-interested in trying to modify recipes so they are surgery-friendly.  He's always enjoyed cooking, so this was right down his alley.

He always made sure I took my painkillers and vitamins on time, even though I was on top if it.

I still get happy tears in my eyes and a squeeze in my heart when I remember how he was there by my side for everything.

The hospital provided me with pads.  I had my period start the day of surgery.  Such luck.

My cycle is so all over the place that I fear that will happen to me too!! I had nasal surgery many years ago and that happened to me. If it happens to me this time, I will be prepared, lol.

I packed a whole bunch of stuff and ended up leaving it in the car.  The only things I really needed were clothes to wear to go home in, a few pairs of underpants, and a pair of really loose P.J. pants.  I was so tired from the anaesthesia that I was sleeping most of the time.  I was woken up to take my water/juice and pain meds, then I'd walk, go to the bathroom to pee, then I'd pass out in bed again.  There was no time for reading or teeth brushing or phone using.  I was too tired to even send a message to family/friends that I was OK.  I was lucky my husband was there to do that for me.

I just wore the hospital gown the whole time and put on P.J. pants so that I could walk around the hospital without my butt hanging out of the gown.
