Question about psychiatrist appt (TWH)

Hi all

Can anyone comment on what happens at this appt? Not sure what to expect but am getting more anxious about it.

Hi there, not to worry I was anxious about that appointment too, but it was all good.  They will ask if there has been any abuse (i.e. sexual or emotional); any traumas in your life (i.e. having your home burn; seeing a murder, etc); any other addictions (i.e. gambling, drugs, etc); support system; are you an emotional eater; what triggers you to eat; body image; etc. Lots of questions. Once it was done with it wasn't so bad. Hope this helps, Cathy

Cheryl, as I recall it was about an hour or so, not much more then that ... and yes there is some duplication from the Social Worker appointment.  

They will ask about mental heath history such as depression. Are you well controlled, medications etc... They just to ensure that you have the support you need to make a success.

Lots of duplication and questions so sure. Never did get the purpose of social worker appointment. For my 1 yr visit the sw asked more questions about how weight loss affected sex life! Needless to say i told him would not answer etc... He was fired shorhtly after. The Psychiatrist is a medical doctor. Don't stress. They just want to make sure you are aware of life changes and have tools to make a success.
