TWH question re surgeon

I have my appointment booked with Dr. Jackson at TWH.  Will he be the same surgeon that does my surgery?  I think I've heard at some centres who you meet with isn't necessarily who does your surgery - is that the case for TWH?  

Anyone with Dr. Jackson lately and know approximately how long it is from the surgeon appointment to surgery? I'll have to train my replacement at work and it should take about 4-6 weeks - just wondering if I have enough time after the appointment to do that, or if I should start a couple weeks before. 

**For anyone checking dates/times my chart came to TWH from HRRH in Feb. orientation in April. Appointments through July and August. Nutrition in October. Called in for cancellation dates for Nut and Psych (which were originally feb) and did those mid November/Dec 1 - my file was lost making it to rounds for a couple weeks so I just got the call today about the surgeon appointment and that's booked for March 4th. 

WOW!  That seems like such a long time to wait to just meet the surgeon!  That's disappointing as I am waiting for the "meet the surgeon" phone call!  I know another person, who had his meet the surgeon on the 21st of December and he was scheduled to have his surgery today.

I'm not sure who his surgeon was.  Maybe he'll post in the next few days with how it went.

I was really disappointed in the length of time between last appointment and "meet the surgeon". I finished appointments in early Dec. Got a call second week of Dec to say my appointment was March 11. Like, four months really?! That's basically the same amount of time it took for all the other appointments. For me, the summer is crazy busy for work travel so I had really wanted to get in over the winter and properly heal before my stressful job takes over...plus who wants to be traveling within the first month of surgery? Not this girl! 

I called TWH last week and was able to move to March 4, but one week probably won't make much difference in a resulting date. I'm going to keep calling each week to see if there is a cancellation but they said it was highly unlikely. :( 

Hi there, I had my appointment booked with Dr. Jackson at TWH but in the end it was Dr. Okrainec who ended up being my surgeon (and he was excellent by the way) ... I had my 'meet the surgeon' appointment Nov 6th, pre-op December 4th and then had my surgery December 18th. I can't say if this is the standard timing from meet the surgeon to surgery but  4 to 6 weeks sounds like a pretty good guess to me! The staff at TWH were excellent and I went back to work on January 4th and feel great!  All the best to you! 

I had my meet the surgeon date booked for Oct 2, but ended up meeting with one of the residents, I believe it was Dr. Krispin. My surgery was on Dec 4th and it was with Dr. Jackson who was great, he's got an amazing bedside manner. I was the last surgery of the day, went in just before 5pm as they were running late that day. My pre-op was on Nov 20th. It should be about 6 to 8 weeks.

It all depends who is booked for OR on your date. I saw Jackson pre-op to sign consent. Had Urbach do surgery
