Let me add my name to this list -- it's normal, which as you said, you know. The "what if I don't do this" answer pushed me forward. The stats speak for themselves. Diets have a 95% failure rate long term. Gastric Bypass has a 70% success rate long term. In order to distract myself from worry, I found getting my nest ready helped. Bought new kitchen & bath scales, WLS cookbook, food containers, protein shakes / bars, supplements and so on. I re-read the information I was given by the TWH Bariatric Centre and purged my kitchen of all things evil. Not sure which program you are with, but if there's a support group session before your op, go! Keep up with this forum and ask anything. People here have been very helpful to me. I encourage you to distract yourself with positive action toward a healthier life and wish you all the best for you upcoming surgery. I'm almost 5 mos. post, no regrets!
Forgot to mention - if you haven't already taken a look at My Fitness Pal website -- take a gander. I use their calorie counter every day!
We have all been there! Definitely mention all your concerns to the anesthesiologist, the more they know about you and your experiences, the better. I have expressed a few myself and they were great in listening and reassuring me. The team at TWH is absolutely wonderful. The general surgery ward staff is amazing and the nurses are great. I had this worry about saying 'See you later' to my kids before my husband took them to daycare and school on the day of surgery, I don't know, but this is wha****ing me the most about it. I wanted to make sure I was back to see them. I stayed in the hospital an extra day so you can imagine how happy I was to see them on the day I got home - and I did get back home! Even with the extra day at hospital, I never for a second regretted my choice. I feel really well and besides still trying to make sure I take all my vitamins and supplements, I am already feeling the benefits. I've lost 36 lbs, I feel like I already have more energy at work, (I'm back as of last Monday) and all my clothes are becoming really loose. I'm 5 weeks post op as of yesterday. You will do great and you are making a great choice for yourself! Good luck with opti fast. Drink lots of fluids while you're on it and the time will fly by and you will be on the losers bench.

Thank you so much!
I will definitely mention everything to the anesthesiologist tomorrow. I definitely don't want a repeat of what happened last time I went under. So far, everyone at TWH has been fabulous. I'm in good hands.
Tomorrow I also start opti-fast! :) Hopefully the next 2 weeks go fast.

I am so there with you. I am scheduled for surgery on January 29th. As each day passes, I get more anxious. I have thoughts like you are having. Am I doing the right thing, what if there are complications, what will it be like after surgery. Then I try to remind myself that I want a healthier life and I want to enjoy life again. Then when I walk and have excruciating pain in both of knees, I start thinking that I need to hurry up and have surgery. Wishing you good luck and much success.
