I have just been given the ok from the Dietitian and social worker now I have to decide where to have my surgery. Where did you choose to have surgery? What was the reason?

TWH and Guelph are both good.

twh:  team surgical stance (go you meet may not do surgery), more trains if you are travelling there, less strict diet , but busy city atmosphere

guelph:  who you meet is who does your surgery, small tone less chaotic place but less train lines if you are travelling.  Stricter diet too and tough on gain prior to surgery.

Don't know what your preference is but most from Windsor choose Guelph.

I also did my program in Windsor and was always told that Guelph is the quickest as the volume in Toronto is greater with longer wait times.

After I finished my final session in Windsor my file was sent to Guelph and got a call from them 2 days later.

Was told could take 30-40 days to be called but I was called very quickly. I seen my surgeon appt December 15 and have a surgery date of January 25

so it was very very quick for me.

So just from the forum I see that the wait times are longer at other facilities

I think sometimes it's the luck of the draw

good luck

Knowing the Windsor centre as I do I can tell you that there is a bias towards Guelph during different times.

The wait at both centres goes back in forth but more often than not, the TWH is a shorter wait.   They've told patients that twh wasn't accepting patients when they were.

You could be very right. I'm not aware of the wait times at other facilities and really thing that it is what it is.

I've seen people get dates quickly and seen people wait terrible times to get surgery.

TWH may be quicker I personally think it's just luck.

I chose Toronto simply because they do all the pre op appointments via telehealth. Guelph you have to drive for all you pre op appointments. I was told 2 months before I would hear from surgeon. From surgery Ed class to surgery for me will be 6 weeks
