My Aqua Disco Queen NSV
Warm pool domination has been my goal since I started swimming. I was told by some of the other swimmers to stop making so many waves, they might get their hair wet (it's a friggin pool). I kept on making waves until I fell on some stairs and injured myself, ending up having to use a walker. Once I was able I got back in that pool and worked hard to get back to where I was before the fall.
A few days ago, our instructor couldn't make it in and we were told the class was cancelled. We were all pretty bummed standing there in our bathing suits. One of the lifeguards suggested I teach the class because I am there everyday and I would know what to do. They voted, and it was unanimous (except for 1 person, sigh) and I taught the class from the side of the pool. For 45 minutes I ran, did jumping jacks, even did 5 minutes of disco dancing (putting on Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive, my own little addition). Those ones that used to tell me not to make waves were making lots of waves themselves, and laughing and enjoying every minute of it (even the one that didn't vote for me).
From being on a walker to teaching a fitness class in 8 months. I love the changes that are possible with WLS.
