Sorry to hear you continue to suffer with pain, Pat. I know what you're saying about pain getting you down. I think chronic pain can change a person inside - their tolerance, their mood, their ability to deal with "life" in general. It seems so unreasonable to me that in this day of medical technology, there are still people who have to deal with daily pain that interferes with their enjoyment of day to day things. Feel better. xo

Afternoon all,
Not too much on the go today, despite the fact that I have a ****ton of stuff to do! lol Went to the local walk-in (they have an exceptional doctor who works there, I made sure he was working ;)) as my incision was looking a little like the start of an infection (yuck, sorry) - prescriptions filled, up to the Mandarin to pick up gift certificates, came home and collapsed on the couch. Andrew's been so fabulous through all of this - cooking, cleaning, general wonderfulness. :)
Anyway... enough with the whining! I can't tell you how much I've been enjoying the weather - incredible for December. :)

Well, prior to the surgery incident I've been MIA due to work and school and craziness. Unfortunately, I had to have an emergency surgery on the 14th. Long story, but the gist of it is that I had a partial bowel obstruction that was caused by my intestines being corkscrewed and strangulating my small intestine, pressing hard on my bowel and causing stretching of my colon. The root cause, as it turns out, is that 10 years ago they used to create an opening for the small intestine to pass through when doing the RNY. They don't do it that way anymore, thankfully, as it created the small intestine hernia and subsequent removal of 1/2 my colon, reattachment of my intestines, and voila! New frankenguts. They attempted to do it as a lap procedure and it ended up being a 4 1/2 hour open surgery. Onward and upward and thanks for asking :)
