Thank you all
i am new to this forum but not to being obese. I want to thank all of you for sharing your stories as well as your fears. I am near the starting point of my journey. After being referred to the TWH for their Bariactric program I have had my orientation as well as my social worker appointment as well as my nurse appointment. I have my next 3 appointments in Feb and March. I look forward to picking your collective brains for answers to questions I don't even know I have yet. It's hard to truly share with people who haven't been in our position. I have to say my wife has been so supportive and is amazing. She will be with me the whole way. I am not telling other members of my family as I doubt they would understand. So thank you to the people who keep this site going and to all of you who contribute the content so newbies like me can see we are not alone.
Doug

Eg. TWH Toronto Western Hospital
Welcome to this forum. You will find awesome support, advice and information on here. We are very lucky to have successful veterans on this site who have kept their weight off even though many haven't been as successful. I am almost 3 years out and I read this daily. It is a good reminder of where I started and how far I have come. This is no magic pill. You still have to work it every day. If you lose sight of the program you will fail and gain your weight back. People start eating foods that are high in carbs, they stop taking their vitamins. They don't make protein their first meal choice. They don't weigh themselves....then they come back on here and ask what am I doing wrong. How can I get back on track. You will do great if you just follow the guidelines.
As for short forms I'm not sure which ones you don't know. DH is dear husband, NSV is non scale victory, what others don't you know? I'm so used to them I can't think of anymore.
All the best in your journey. You are being given a gift. Make the most of it!!
Welcome to the board! You'll get lots of info and stories here.
As for the short forms, you'll catch on or ask. The common ones are the hospital initials, NSV (Non Scale Victory), SC (Scale Victory), Nut (Nutritionist), SW (Social Worker), TMI (Too much info).
As for the banners, go under Health Tracker. Tickets and Widgets I think. You can set yourself up there. The scales will move automatically as you update your weight. Some will go in and add appointment dates (I never did). But what you set up as your signature is up to you.
Enjoy the journey that you have chosen.
Cathy
Welcome The little magnifing glass to the left of centre on the blue Obesity Help banner will become your go to tool. Whenever you have a question just pose it there & you will be amazed what has been asked & answered. Put in list of abrevations and you will have a chuckle over what has been abrev.
Best of luck on your journey.
