First day on optifast.

Hi,

Today is my first day on Optifast. The shakes really fill me up, I don't feel hungry, but I'm having a headache right now. I hope it gets better. My surgery is on December 21st, in Guelph. I'm very nervous, because I've never had a surgery before, so I don't know what is like to be put to sleep, wake up in pain, etc.

A little bit about me: I started the program at 460 lbs, and right now I'm 443 lbs. I've always been a big healthy guy. This will be an extreme change for me.

Are there any support groups in London?

My surgery was in Guelph in January...my first surgery ever too. It went so well and I have never looked back. Living the decision I made and only wish I had done this 20 years ago!

I am sure there are support groups in London that someone else will have info on. Best of luck through your surgery and recovery. ?

Congrats on the road to a healthier you! I am on day 7 of Opti, my surgery is in Toronto a week from today. I had terrible headaches at first as well, you are able to take Tylenol I highly suggests you do it! Day 2 I had brain fog and was tired, but that resolved. Day three I was hangry (hungry and angry) but that went away too.

I work in a Doctors office and our patients are so kind, so kind in fact that they bring in home made and store bough goodies, I have resisted and actually feel pretty proud of myself for not giving into temptation. I just keep reminding myself of the bigger (or soon to be smaller haha) picture!

Hi Daniel... Check out FB for 2 local groups. London Bariatric Support Group and Guelph Bariatric Group.? London has local monthly mtgs and weekly coffee nights. Both great groups and lots of cross posters. Both groups are closed and private therefore nothing posts on your FB wall/page etc. I really enjoy them both. ? I am pre - op now....Jan 18th is my surgery date in Guelph with the Super Dr Reed. I start Opti for 2 weeks on Jan 4th....pre admit on Jan 5th. Started this process with fam doc referral end of Jan and orientation on Feb 23rd. Looking forward to the rest of the journey. Good luck!! Cheers, Carrie
