what do people eat 2 weeks post op
Ok so i am trying a different angle before i call my center tomorrow but what did or do people eat in a day at 2 weeks post op? Yesterday i had for breakfast 3/4 of a packet of plain oatmeal with 1 tbsp peanut butter then a protein shake for lunch 1 egg scrambled with shredded cheese for supper and a greek yogurt and glass of milk in evening. Today i changed things up and had protein shake for breakfast and lunch with a yogurt for dinner and glass of milk in evening. Am i eating too much for this phase? My center told me to aim for 900 calories but im getting the consensus from alot who have had the surgery that this is too much. Thanks for all the advice in advance
This is a sample of what i was eating at about 12 days post op At breakfast I would have greek yogurt cup 100grams = 50 calories + 1/2 scoop of unflavoured protein powder = 13.5 grams of protein+ 8 grams of protein in the greek yogurt cup.
Snack would be 1/2 premier protein shake.
Lunch 1/4 cup of low fat cream of chicken soup 80 calories + 1/4 scoop of unflavoured protein powder mixed in after soup had cooled down a bit.
Snack 1/2 premier protein shake
Supper 1/4 cup of low fat cream of chicken soup 80 calories + 1/4 scoop of unflavoured protein powder mixed in after soup had cooled down a bit.
Snack some premier protein shake
my total calories around this time was approx 400-500 and 70-90 grams of protein.
When i moved on to puree
breakfast 1 Scrambled egg with some skim milk mixed in to make it more runny and 1/4 cup of apple sauce with 1/2 scoop of unflavoured protein powder
snack 1/2 premier protein shake
Lunch egg salad made with plain greek yogurt instead of mayo mixed in was a bit of unflavoured protein powder.
Snack 1/2 premier protein shake
Supper blue menu canned chunk chicken pureed with chicken broth
Total average calories was still between 400-600 average protein counts were 70-90 grams
Thanks this helps a lot what protein powder did you use that was unflavoured? I struggled afterwards with my taste buds I had a protein powder I enjoyed prior to surgery but afterwards it tasted awful but I enjoy the premier protein shakes a lot. I am drinking a whole protein shake at a time however it takes me over an hour to fini**** I just sip it periodically. I think I will try to have 2 protein shakes a day as well as my yogurt as I love the activists Greek ones right now and possibly add some cottage cheese as a snack. I am worried I am eating too much and going to stretch my pouch. Did you ever try protein bars at this stage? I'm not sure if it's something we can have if we break the bar up into pieces and have throughout the day. Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it.
Bulk Barn sells unflavoured whey protein powder in bulk. I wouldn't try the protein bars just yet. You are eating a lot of protein-rich slider foods like Greek yogurt and cottage cheese which is great. Also you are getting in your fluids and protein shakes. I don't think you will stretch your pouch with those foods, so you are doing great. My Centre gave a calorie guideline of 600-800 calories per day in the losing phase. However they didn't tell me this until my 1 year followup, lol. Try to follow the guidelines from your Centre for volume at this stage. Measure your food and you should be fine.

i ordered from a canadian company called Canadian Protein, it has 27 grams of protein per scoop and it had no flavour and doesnt change the consistency of my foods i was adding it to. http://www.canadianprotein.com/100-whey-protein-isolate-2lbs .html
Protein bars are way to soon, i didnt try them til after 3 months post op and i only use them when im out and have no other healthy option. i keep one in my coat incase
Number one - the second, and I mean second I felt full I stopped eating. Sometimes this meant 4 spoonful's of soup and I was done. Agree with the other poster that a protein shake took me at least 2 separate sittings to consume
Week 2 - 4 for me was pureed. this was the stage I hated the most so I stuck to one can of refried beans split in 3-4 small meals with a bit of shredded cheddar melted on top. I could do anything for 2 weeks.
1/4 cup of egg or tuna salad - I found this very filling early out and actually still find tuna salad fills me quickly.
I just ran your food thru Myfitnesspal to check your stats. This isn't always entirely correct as different choices on MFP will give you various stats.
Figuring you had a Source Greek for 50 Calories and 1 cup of skim milk, I used a large egg and the quaker packet of oatmeal. Regular Peanut butter. I also used a premier shake as your protein shake as its low in carbs etc.
Your stats with this are: Calories - 610, Carbs - 45 Grams, protein 62 Grams. So not as bad as the almost 900 you had listed. Of course this is only with the items I have listed which are the lowest greek yogurt I know and with skim milk
If eggs are working for you - why not have one for both lunch and dinner?
I hope this helps you. Just remember you cant feel everything yet until about 3 months out. Try to stick to as dense solids as you can tolerate as you move up the stages of eating and get all of your water/fluids in
Good luck
