Morning

Up a good part of the night - too much food trying to find room in my pouch and otherwise.  Ughh

Well the verdict is in - NEVER will I brine a turkey again.  I didn't see any difference other then another step to include.  I rinsed that sucker good before roasting to get the salt out.  The meat seemed just the same to me as a non brined turkey.

AND - had a bit of a disaster in the kitchen before golfing yesterday morning.  Fortunately it was early enough before hitting the links for me to clean up.  The turkey in brining bag shifted as I was lifting it out of the fridge at 5:30 A.M.   The brining bag opened and a gallon of water ended up on the floor including all the little tiny pieces of rosemary and little balls of cloves everywhere.  Took my husband and I over an hour to clean up including pulling all the appliances out of the wall .  Fortunately we have a shop vac that sucked up all the spices from the crevices.  I was sweating by the time we got to the first tee.

Today - shopping with a friend and out for lunch somewhere.

STEPS - 12, 306

EATS

B - turkey with splenda cranberries

    Arnolds thins

L - not sure but likely a caprese salad

D - 3 oz Turkey

2 bites of mashed potatoes and stuffing

     splenda cranberries

    gravy

S - more turkey if I am hungry

I haven't fun this thru MFP yet but I suspect this will run to roughly 12-1400 calories with snack.  Just too tired today

All water and vits

Have a great one

Sorry to hear your brining experience was a bad one.  I never use the brining bags as we never had them available when brining first became popular.  I use a cooler to brine it and let it brine for days and it definitely makes a difference in the taste.

That sounds like a nightmare Barb and Pat.   I would hate getting raw turkey juice all over my floor or counter. My house would smell like bleach when the guests arrived.  I hear people say how wonderful deep fried turkey is, but I'm so clumsy I could foresee a similar disaster.

Morning all, great ride home last night. The weather was so mild

Barb I had a similar disaster with bringing. Only it was also all  over my counter and seemed to be everywhere. Disaster you do not need on an already busy day.

I have a really busy weekend coming up. I will probably leave work early to grocery shop so it is done. I am sure I will forget things I need. Tomorrow working our church craft show. Anyone in the east end of Toronto it is at Woodbine and Kingston Rd. The church up on the hill.

Sunday I am having my sister, BIL and brother along with my kids for lunch. My sister and brother are neat freaks. No matter how much I clean I always feel it is not enough. So I will probably kill myself cleaning fro the next two days.

Ohh boy - good luck with the cleaning.

I am now at the point in my life that I feel my guests should just be pleased I invited them.  I don't sweat things like I used to.

Enjoy that glass of wine tonight and hope you can relax a bit

I was kind of coming to that conclusion this morning. At my age I am who I am take it or leave it. It is already enough dealing with the fact I am still the little sister at my age

Nia I think that one of the reasons we obsess about food is because we are just to afraid of screwing up.  I'm not sure if it gets better over time.  Balance is a hard thing to achieve.  For me I don't want to go back to where I was pre WLS.  I also don't want to give myself permission to go on a binge of eating (during the holidays for example) and then spend months trying to get off the regain.  Having said all of that, I don't want to be obsessing for the rest of my life about every mouthful.  Your post yesterday really got me thinking about how do we achieve that balance, because I am guilty of some of the things you described yesterday.
