Hello

Hope everyone is having a great day! Another question from my never ending brain!

I received my orientation package FINALLY, in filling it out I have answered NO to the majority of the health questions..I am worried that I wont qualify now :(

My BMI IS 40-41 and I have the ususal issues with carrying 263 lbs around on a 5'3 frame..sleep problems, aches and pains, shortness of breath, acid reflux but none of the goodies like diabetes, liver, ulcers, arthritis etc...

Whats your opinion? Would I get turned down..any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated :)

I was in the exact same situation as you are 11 months ago. Almost exactly the same weight and height as you are now. I go for my surgery on Wednesday. As long as your BMI is over 40 then you should qualify with or without co-morbidiites. Best of luck on your journey!

The criteria is bmi of 40 with or without co-morbidities so it doesn't matter if you don't have any.

I didn't have any co-morbidities (at first), just a high BMI. I later found out I had very mild sleep apnea, but I didn't find that out until I finished almost all my other appointments. You should be fine.

Im , in the same situation, today was my first app with the nurse(my weight is higher then yours) most of the questions is NO. Even my blood pressure is perfect(120/80) and I do the same worry like yours. For now they booked me for the rest of app so I hope I will get it

Hi,

I would also tell you not to worry. I also filled out no too many of the questions maybe yes to one or two. My blood pressure is slightly elevated. I was able to go to my appointments with no problems and not eating many other tests which maybe your case to. That is nice because then your process could be a little quicker perhaps. If you're not waiting on test for your heart or sleep apnea or other issues. Make sure you make the changes that they're asking for when you do have your appointments so that they can push you along through this process. Good luck with everything and keep us up-to-date. I go for surgery on the 13th. I can tell you more about the process to Ottawa after that is over. Tomorrow I go to meet the anesthesiologist and do some presurgery blood work and other appointments. Best of luck on the journey!

Good afternoon Hidingaway!

If you are answering no to the questions it is actually a good thing because it means that you do not have any other health risks that may cause issues in the future when going through everything. Do not think it is a bad thing at all! It means you are a great candidate for this journey that you are about to take.

Good luck!

Amanda
