I find cold water hurts...I'm 7.5 months out. Not a fan of plain water either...I need my squirt of Mio or KoolAid.

Keep drinking what doesn't hurt, doesn't have to be plain water. Try again in a few weeks with plain water and you might be able to by then. Some people seem to never be able to have plain water and then others after time, they can.

I've read of lots of people on here that can't drink plain water, but have never heard a proper explanation of why that is. I am one of the ones that can't drink water plain, so now I use my new favourite - Minute Maid Tropical mango water enhancer, or I drink lots of iced decaf coffee, or hot decaf coffee and decaf tea.

You've likely never heard one as I don't think there is one. It's all just about tolerance just like many with eggs or dairy or beef. Some can handle it and some can't.

I've been adding a slice or two of fresh lemon or lime to my litre bottle, I don't like the water enhancers like Mio very much. Just adding the citrus jazzes it up enough to make it tasty, not sweet but you could add a splenda if that helps. It could be the viscosity of the plain water that's giving you problems. That may or may not change over time. As mentioned, I've heard that some folks never can tolerate plain water.

the dietician at TWH told me plain water has surface tension which causes the pain and to put something in to break up the tension such as mio drops.
