Had my first appointment today at TWH

Wasn't sure what to expect and it went just fine, the psychiatrist was very nice.

Got the next two with the nurse and the social worker booked in December, but

the first available nutrition class isn't til March! Oh well. I guess it takes as long

as it takes.

I think they space things out to give you time to really think about things. It's not the decision to be taken lightly (as you know, of course). But trust me, there will be ups and downs. So, expect it and know it's OK. I'm a week before my surgery and just a couple days ago I totally thought I was making the wrong decision. Even though I had been through the whole process and decided this is what I must do... I worried about complications down the road.

Use the time to do your own research. This book was written by an RD at HRRH. It's an excellent resource and will give you a head up on the nutrition front. This was the first thing I bought when I was told I needed WLS. My first thought was "what on earth will I be able to eat?" and this helped me see that a well rounded, nutritious, and delicious diet was possible.

Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you have questions and just want to talk. I am not an expert... but I feel like I had a million questions when I began my journey, so I can regurgitate what I've learned thus far.

I had the same doubts the day before I started taking Opti. My surgery is in 5 days and even though I too have done all the research and know this is what I need, there is still that little ounce of doubt in the back of my mind. I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone. In a few days we will be on the losers bench together!

Thanks! Good luck, my best wishes for a speedy and completely uneventful recovery.

I tended to freak out a lot more last week, this week I'm just completely calm. We'll see how next week goes.
