Calcium Mistake - I bought Carbonate instead of Citrate

Hello all I went vitamin shopping last weekend and realized instead of getting calcium citrate I got carbonate. It is a bottle of 120 pills at 500 mgs per tablet, so would last me 40 days if I were to take 3 a day. The price was so good on it I don't really want to take it back. Do you think I will be okay just taking the carbonate for 40 days instead of citrate? Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Dreamy

Simple answer - NO. Not only more difficult to absorb but they this type of calcium can also contribute to kidney stones.

Have you ever purchased a piece of clothing that you did not wear? Treat this calcium the same as unused clothing and purchase the correct type.

Your bones will thank you

It might be a good deal but it's wasted money. You would be in the same boat taking nothing for 40 days as taking these. Get the citrate ones. My pharmacist doesn't recommend carbonate for anyone over 35 that don't even have their guts rerouted.

Thanks for your replies all! I have donated the vitamins to a co-worker who takes carbonate and I went and bought some citrate on my way in to work this morning.

Thanks for posting. I probably would have done this at some point. I would have just seen "calcium" and thought "Woohoo"
