I woke up with a stuffed up nose. My nose must have been contested at night because I can feel crap in my throat. I have 6 days until surgery. I sure hope this congestion passes soon. I am keeping my heat up in the house and trying to get descent sleep. Can't load up on vitamin c because of opti...anything else I can try to get healthy and stay healthy?

Ps, I teach kindergarten! ð??"

If you are feeling OK during the day and the congestion was just last night. I would take Echinacea. Its all natural and will ward your full blown cold. In the past, at least with me, I notice that once I stop taking the Echinacea, within three days I get that cold I was trying to avoid. So my experience is Echinacea does not cure or stop a cold, just wards it off for this important time so you can breathe up to and during surgery. I can't promise you will not get your cold three days after surgery, when you are back home and recuperating. I know kindergarten teachers and I know those germ infested little sweethearts have no idea (or care). What I would do is call the surgeon's office. And tell them you think you may have a cold coming on, what should you do...they get this question all the time.

You can try having a humidifier in your room at night, it won't keep the cold away, but it might help keep things loose. You can also try vicks on your chest at night (or feet, some say it works better to put it on your feet and wear socks). Other than that, check with your clinic, as they will know what you can have on Opti. Some may or may not be a good idea right now, but they would know for sure.
