chicken boullion/beef or vegetable broth??? while on opti
Ok, the opti sheets says "chicken boullion/beef or vegetable broth" is an acceptable fluid. Is chicken dehydrated broth ok? what is the difference between broth and boullion???
I am going through Ottawa if that helps. The next line says "do not eat any other foods or calorie-containing beverages on optifast'
Well the chicken broth container I have has 15 calories per teaspons, 3 g of carbs and 1 g sugar and of course sodium.
advice????

I believe boullion refers to the dried boullion cubes or powder packs ( think it may even be a brand name). Where as broth is already a liquid form. I think its all one in the same. I saw where people even just took chicken noodle and strained it.
I remember not liking the boxed broths or the cubes. I used the KNORR brand gels. Its concentrated in little gel packs. You just add to boiling water. I liked the taste better... they had a regular and a low sodium available.

Mona Lisa is right. The sheet is referring to boullion being a cube or powder pack. (its not a brand name) and the broth is referring to the liquid tetra pack. Try to get the low sodium. The normal cubes are too high in sodium. Please do not strained chicken noodle soup. Too many carbs in the broth from the noodles sitting in the cans. However, if you make Liptons chicken noodle soup mix. Sift the noodles out before you cook and know that it is high in sodium.
It is not the end of the world, it is just the interpretation. I can remember reading my sheets over and over again to come up with a slightly different answer. Its a guideline. Just try to stick with the guideline. The more fat you can flush out and off your liver, the better the patient you will be and recover faster.

At TWH they gave us a calorie cap for the broth/bouillon. I think it's 30 cal per serving, but it's somewhere deep in the abyss of papers they gave me and I can't find it exactly. My powder was 15 cal and that was OK I remember.
