Hey there.  Is the pc drink rtd or powder?  Not a bad day but my calories are low, just not hungry the past few days, forgetting my snacks.  Dinner had some butter in it so that helped get the calories up.  The cauliflower casserole turned out really nice - just cauliflower, lf swiss cheese, parmesan petals, local organic tomatoes, salt and pepper, butter, baked it in the oven, really quite nice.

b - premier protein shake, chocolate, decaf coffee

s - 2 local organic baby carrots

l - pizza (toppings only) off a meatlovers pizza

s - 4 local organic baby carrots, half a simply protein bar

d - baked cauliflower tomato swiss cheese casserole, decaf coffee

s - p28 slice toasted with pb and low sugar jam

800 calories, not bad, yesterday was 650, too low and I don't feel well.

The protein drink is suppose to be ready to drink but no matter how much you shake the box it come out gross so I put it in the blender and just mix it up. I buy it because of the price.

your baked cauliflower sounds good would you be willing to share it.

650 is low for calorie intake but if you are not feeling well it is hard to get it up. I find protein drinks real good for those days I am not well.

hope you are feeling better

The rtd premier protein shakes used to be that way, but not anymore.  How much are the pc ones?  How many g of protein and carb?  I too find protein drinks to be so helpful on "small pouch" days, its easier to drink my calories on those days than to stuff myself with dense protein.  I feel ok today but yesterday was a different story.  I had an upsetting day and when that happens I tend to either turn to junk food for comfort or not eat at all because I feel sick.

this is the recipe:

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cheesy-Baked-Cauliflower-II/

I used only 1/4 of the butter and low fat blue menu cheese slices, added some parmesan petals, other than that I followed the recipe.  If you try it let me know what you think.  It made a lot so I have enough for another 3 meals or so.  Easy and good, especially with the nice Ontario cauliflower available right now at good prices.

Hi the pc protein drink is 20 grams of protein 10 grams of sugar and 10 grams of carbs. 190 calories and i want to say 17 something for 12. I know it is under 20 dollars.  I just get Vanilla. I throw in raspberries to change the taste. it works for me nice and easy.

I will try the recipe for sure and let you know if I like it.

My trainer is always after me for more fruit and vegetables. I have started adding the fruit to my diet. She always says good carbs are fine. You need it to make the body work.

I understand your trainer's view on this, Barb. I would also like to remind you that she is referring to "normal" people's bodies.

We are not normal. We had surgery that re-routed our intestines, cut off our guts and completely changed the way we process and metabolize food. Just because we're several years out doesn't mean that our insides now behave the same as a non-WLS person - it just doesn't happen. THAT is why you exercise your ass off every single day and still have a 20 pound regain that you're working on - a "normal" person's body wouldn't hold onto that weight. Ours does and our metabolisms are wonky, hence we can't eat the "recommended typical 2000 calorie per day with lots of carbs" diet that trainers recommend and have to have about 1400 calories per day just to maintain a normal weight. Thinking and eating like a "normie" isn't gonna fly I'm afraid. Best come to terms with that now.

Thanks for the shake info.  Just to let you know the gnc protein shakes have 25g protein and less calories and carbs as well, they are 19.99 for 12 at gnc, they taste great and do not clump up.  Just a thought, sometimes it is nice to try something different, and the price is comparable.  Fruit I find very addictive, especially this time of the year when there is so much local stuff.  For me a very small amount of fruit is ok but if I eat more than that then its all I want to eat.  It does not help that fruit like banana and oranges keep getting bigger and bigger.  What the heck am I supposed to do with an orange the size of a large grapefruit?  I also find that post op I am much more sensitive to sugar of any kind.  I ate a cup of strawberries this weekend and I got sleepy afterwards, which I know if because of my sensitivity to sugar.  Anyone else have this happen or notice it is worse post-op?  have a nice night!

Yes. As RNY patients were are sensitive to sugar, whether it be from natural sources (fruit) or refined. The sleepy thing is a big warning bell that full-out dumping is next. It's a "carb coma", since sugar is a carb.

I totally agree with you on the GNC shakes as a much more appropriate choice. And they're DELISH.

thanks for the info on the shakes I will have to look into them.  there is a store close to me that sells some gnc products so I will have to check and see if they have the shakes. I can not believe the sizes of oranges.  If I buy oranges  I look for the small ones and share it with my husband. We had one large orange in the house and my husband never would take and eat it. Asked him why he did not want the orange and he thought it was the grapefruit

I know eh?  why so big?  I think they are just trying to make more money per pound.  They know people tend to buy by the piece so this way they are selling more.  Its too bad but it seems to be the trend.
