Thanks Karen! I don't know why but that particular nutritionist always seems to have something negative to say. Like she looked at the chicken salad and said that's 4 ounces, that's too much. And she says we're not allowed to have protein shakes even though the other NUTs say they're ok... I know we're supposed to get most of our calories from solid food, but I don't see how 1 shake is so bad.
Sorry ... venting!
Ahhhh... clearly you're out of Guelph. They've always had a "no protein shake rule", simply because the head of bariatrics there (Dr. Reed) doesn't like them. I'm never one to suggest people go outside of their centre's food plan, but there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with using a protein supplement (shake) in your daily menu. Ridiculous.
The Good Foods chicken salad is quite good but I found committing to 8 containers of it too much, though it did have a good expiration range and I ended up eating them all, minus one that went in the trash just yesterday. 4 oz of dense protein is a lot, your nut is right. But.... that 4 oz container isn't straight, solid chicken - there's a lot of "filler" with some cranberries, almonds, and poppy seed dressing with onions. You're 6 months out, yes?
