Thanks, I take other meds as well, but pretty much have them down pat to where I need to take all the pills. It is the food I am afraid of...lol I do not want to get sick..

measure out 1/4 to 1/2 cup and take your time.  i was scared too i added un flavoured protein powder to everything unsweetened apple sauce, cream soups, greek yogurt etc... you wont be able to eat much the first bit but as time goes on you'll be able to eat more.  Im on soft solids now and i can eat more then i did when i was on liquids.  I measure or weigh all my food this keeps me accountable and i know how much im taking in.

Hey Oh2BeMe!!!

You are not alone!  I just got home from the hospital a few hrs ago, and got some vitamins in, a little of a protein shake, and some water.  I am absolutely exhausted,  didn't get a lot sleep there.  I am trying to stay at the 4 oz an hour rate that seemed to work at the hospital but I don't really have a clue and I'm afraid of having too much or pushing it.  The book outlines what you can have, but not how or when.  I guess we figure it out as we go.??? It's scary !

I had cream of mushroom soup today, strained, ate 1/4 cup and it was delicious and went down well, felt so good. Also, had 1/4 cup tomato juice and it sat well also.  I drank a protein shake from GNC the banana one, the others I bought that the doctor recommended (BOOST FOR DIABETICS IN CHOCOLATE AND VANILLA ) are just awful....Going back to GNC to get more of their flavors for sure.

Awesome.  Soup sounds good maybe for tomorrow.  I have premiere and gnc shakes too.   How long did one of those take you to get down??? Are you using the little 1oz cups for liquids??

For the drinks I am not using a measuring cup at all, just keep sipping between a water bottle and a GNC shake. I sip all day and night and so far so good. For the soup and tomato juice , I measure out 1/4 cup of each . and take about 40 minutes to sip both.  And have felt perfectly fine after trying them. I had 1/4 cup of greek yougurt yesterday as well as 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce and again, no issues at all. I mixed pretein powder into the greek yougurt yesterday as well one teaspoon full.

I had surgery on July 13th and was walking like a champ at the hospital.  Now that I am home going to the bathroom is a mile walk it seems. Hope it gets better.

As for food and water, my surgeon said the first week to worry about getting 64 ounces of water.  It took a few days and my wife reminding me every 10 minutes.  For food, greek vanilla yogurt 12 grams of protein, with a scoop of strawberry protein mix 10 grams of protein, and Mio drink mix.  Then I trade out the yogurt for sugar free pudding for different flavors.  And I take my time, its hard to tell the difference between pain and fullness.  But I am making it! Good Luck!

Hi

had surgery same day at the same hospital. I had to stay until Saturday a little scare my heart rate wouldn't go down! But I'm home and sore and been doing good eating, it's somewhat hard to figure out but I'm getting it. Had one incident where I had these sharp pains in my left side, I thought it was gas but it was it was either because I ate a little too fast or drank fast... Anyways learn from the mistakes and do it differently... I didn't get a liquid prescriptions all mine were pill form I have taken them? Mind you I crush them or open the capsules... Also water I have been sipping all day too, and taking everything as schedule and timing everything. If I have no issues am I doig it right?? I see others comments and then I think oh know I'm not doing that. Yogurt is the thing that hurts my side the most it puts me in so much pain. Where do you get the yogurt from because I can't find any that said no sugar added? Welcome home and speedy recovery!

Glad you are home. Things have been going smooth, I have everything in order. I have had no adverse reactions from anything I have tried. So far I have tried unsweetened applesauce, strained cream of mushroom soup, cream of wheat, no sugar added pudding (premade from the dairy section) tomato juce and greek yogurt which I found at Walmart.  tonight I will try cottage cheese ..Also I have drank 1 protein shake per day and the only ones I like are from GNC, they are delicious. I also have protein powder which I put in the pudding and yogurt, and will put some in my applesauce. I got that a bulk barn to see if I like it. It is just ok. I really prefer the premade shakes by far.
