Home and sore

Had surgery July15th, at TEGH with Dr. Cyriac and the whole team was fantastic, I  got home late this afternoon. Very sore. Can not lay down, it hurts too much. I sat up to sleep at the hospital as well in the bed.

I am very confused as how to start my daily routine tomorrow. I have everything I need. But am afraid to try and eat anything and how much I should try etc.. Any tips would be great.

Glad you're home and all went well.  I hope you're able to get some sleep.  Keep hydrated, maybe try ice cubes/chips if actually drinking water doesn't appeal yet.  You can totally do this :)

I am 5 weeks post op.  It gets better!!  When I first got home I tried to have 3 meals.  For breakfast I ate a couple of mouthfuls of just Apple applesauce with protein powder. Lunch I had a tomato juice (add protein) and supper I would have soup.  Abviously, you aren't going to be able to eat much so just start with small mouthfuls. When it wasn't' meal time I was drinking water.  It does get easier just take it slow, give your body time to heal.  Good luck!!!

Glad all went well. Use your list of liquids you are allowed. Measure everything so you do not over do it. Add protein to everything. Protein will help you heal. I know it can be over whelming but each day will get easier. Keep the papers you got from your centre close and follow them as much as you can

Hi Thanks

We didnt get any papers from our centre as I had previously stated. I did some googling and found some info from TWH tho. I will follow that as close as I can.  I took my vitamins this morning and I know to take the calcium two hours after others  etc.. I am going to drink some protein shake for now, then at lunch time, I will try a bit of strained cream soup, see how that sits on my tummy. I am afraid of getting sick, I am sure others felt that way as well.

Didn't you have to do a nutrition class and see a dietician? The binder was needed at both those appointments. Happy healing!

It will get easier every day, just keep trying the best you can.  I am 4 weeks post op and still scared to get sick.  I have had twice where i had to vomit and it was because i ate to fast between bites once i think was because i over ate the last 2 bites.

Vitamins here is my schedule that works for me.

wake up i take prevacid as soon as i wake up and b12 i let them melt and i take my vitamin d and my calcium citrate.  I wait an hour or more and i have my breakfast.  At about 10:45 i have my feramax iron (i have a pre existing iron deficiency) in the afternoon i have my calcium citrate and vitamin d again and then wait over an hour and i have supper.  I take a 2nd feramax iron dose around 7:30 pm and then at 9 or 10 pm i have 2 centrum 50 chewable multi vitamins.

Thanks, I take other meds as well, but pretty much have them down pat to where I need to take all the pills. It is the food I am afraid of...lol I do not want to get sick..
