Ottawa time line

Hi,

Just wondering if some people from Ottawa would share their time line for this process. I am seeing a lot of variation at the bottom of the many posts. Just curious. I have my Nut/Beh appointment on July 24 and am wondering what happens after that. When possibly I could expect next appointment or even surgery...i.e., before Christmas.  Thanks!

My timeline is at the bottom -

Roughly 13 months from orientation to surgery.

I don't know the exact timeline right now as in what steps happen when.  But I was in recently for an appointment, and they said that it was about 18 months from Orientation.  Some people go quicker, some go slower.

I had my beh/nut appointment last July. Then I had pre-surgery class in October and met the surgeon end of November.  I got called for surgery in December-pure luck as I was down on the list but due to having to start Opti on Christmas Day many people passed.  I asked her if I said no, what would be the next time. She was honest and said you are way down the list So I'll probably be calling you again in April.  I said no way. Merry Christmas to me! 😄.  And so I had surgery in January.

Thanks! That affirms what I was starting to think...April. I am disappointed but understand the timelines. Long process but as everyone says...'it's all worth it!'

Totally worth it. Best thing I have ever done for myself. And who knows?  Maybe you'll get the call to start Opti at Christmas as well!   I'll cross my fingers for you!  😄

Alison (NP) told me last week to expect at least one year from the time of seeing her until surgery.  I was shocked by that and assumed that she just gave that long of a wait to err on the side of caution, but if last year's wait times are an indicator, that would put you upwards of June maybe even (might be a nice time of year for surgery recovery though?).  Let's hope we are not that long.  I heard somewhere that Kingston was looking to hire bariatric surgeons for their centre, so if they do, that might take the load off Ottawa a bit

Sorry, don't mean to hijack your post, but I'm glad you posted this as I had the same questions.

So it looks like from NewMe's signature and InMySight's signature that there is some sort of a class after the Beh/Nut.  One says surgery class, the other says nutrition class.  Anyone want to elaborate what this class is about? Presumably they are the same class?

And then after that it is the meeting with the surgeon and surgery (assuming no bumps in the road)?
