What are you eating/doing today (Friday)
Morning all and happy Friday indeed. Kelly and Tracy, i always wondered if we can use coconut milk. For some reason i always thought of it as a no no. If i might ask, how much and how often do you use it. I like to make curries and i usually make it with low fat milk, stopped using coconut milk after surgery and my curries don't taste the same with milk. Zizzler glad you found something nice at VV. I've been there a few times and never found anything worth my while and they are always overpriced for second hand stuff. I'd rather get news stuff from giant tiger or walmart for new and cheaper and lammietee, congrats on the week post op. You're doing great. Sorry Pat for your knee as i have the same problem with the meniscus, painful when you move it the wrong way.
Yesterday i hit a wall. I could not fit in anymore planned snacks or water. It felt like i was going to explode.

The kind in the can very seldom. Too many calories. The silk only has 50 calories per cup for the unsweetened and 80 calories per cup for the original. Coconut Dream brand has similar stats to the silk. I drink one cup daily and plan on trying it in cooking instead of the one in the can.
I started using it in January when I started my Whole Life Challenge. My fat intake increased, as I took on the strict Paleo Diet. Paleo/Whole Foods has zero sugar (and not just listed as 0 Sugar on the ingredients, but 0 over all...like most bacon says 0 sugar, but it is cured with cane sugar...a trace amount, but not even allowed that). No dairy, no wheat, rice etc. So, as much as it's high in calories (and I have maybe 4 tablespoons a day), it's low for me and the amount of exercise I get in.
I wouldn't recommend it until maintenance and even then, use sparingly unless you exercise a lot and need to up calories....but by that I mean, A LOT :-)

I haven't been following along, if you posted your other issues. Are you working together with your centre about getting your nutrition in?

Yes thank you Kelly. The NUT in Guelph checks up on me regularly and she just did yesterday. I've had trouble from 3 weeks out with ulcers and that took a while to get over. Then in August, i developed a lot of pain just above the belly button and had tests that showed nothing. I lost so much weight as i stopped eating all together. I recently went back to follow up with the doc and again i had dropped another 20 lbs in a month and being 15 months post op at the time, the doc and the nut were a bit worried because the pain is still ongoing. I have another round of CT, scope next month and if that doesn't show anything, it's a exploratory lap. There was a point i was only eating 200 cals a day. Now i make a conceited effort to get in at least 700 cal. It a hit and miss most days. Will keep you updated though.
