Meeting Surgeon date...HRRH

Well it was exactly 4 months ago yesterday that I had my orientation at HRRH. I waited patiently and got the call yesterday to meet the surgeon...Mon March 23...meeting Dr Starr. I would love to hear feedback from people who had him do their surgery. I guess every center sets up their appointments differently, because I didn't think I would see the surgeon first. Nice to get the ball rolling that was a long 4 months.

Dr.Starr is very friendly and nice. He answered all my questions. I had my surgery March 2nd 2015 and it has been fairly smooth sailing. Very little pain but nausea was awful, incisions have all healed no problems at all.

Is it just me or is that pretty short notice?? At orientation it sounded like a mail out, that we would have advanced notice?   It's great you got that appointment,   I'm just thinking, I work full time and need a bit of notice for booking someone to work for me. I would drop everything and go!!! I understand the waiting!!! Was hoping for a bit of notice.   

Yes! I was shocked actually I kept checking my mail box....I asked if they had a later date so I could make arrangements as I am 2 hours away. She then offered me the Friday March 27, I got the feeling these were cancellation spots. Just good I was off this Monday. so I took the appointment. How long have you been waiting?

Hi my referral was sent Aug 15/14,   I asked it to be refaxed in November when I hadn't heard anything,   I then was given orientation appt. January 26/15. The week before they sent me a letter changing that appt. To Feb 20/15, I called and said please can I come Jan 26/15, they said no problem.   So we were told 6-8 weeks we would get a package in mail with further appointment info. Thinking that they not very organised!!! Might just give a call today see where I am at!

 

 

Let me know how you make out with this....just remember that my orientation was on Nov 17 so you could still be a little ways away. I hate waiting but its been good for me to research and to quit my coffee now I still need to work on the diet coke....habit.

Just called, was told very close to booking the. Surgeon appointments for the January orientation patients.   I honestly think my referral was missed when it was originally faxed last Aug. But you are right, needed the time to start making changes do research. Feeling good about things, have cut cream out of coffee, working on smaller ears and snacks in between. Let me know how your meeting goes!! We are on our way!!!

 

Dr. Starr is incredible....I haven't had surgery yet, but I did the meet with the surgeon after my orientation and before my trio appts.  He is kind and soft spoken and will answer any question you ask him.  He never made me feel rushed at all even though he had a room full of patients waiting.  He immediately made my husband and I feel calm and like this is a no brainer....LOL  We walked out of there saying 'yes of course I am going to do this surgery!'  I am diabetic, and my diabetes will be gone ..... that is my main goal :)  My advice to you is to just phone every week, ask if you can get in earlier for the trio appts, and book your Dr. Glazer NOW.  He is the internist, and is very busy and hard to see.  You will not have surgery until he clears you.  I booked my Dr. Glazer appt as soon as I got home from meeting Dr. Starr and he wasn't able to see me for 3 months!  So book him ASAP.
