This can be a fairly common thing- often caused by old blood not expelled during last period or if you have irregular periods. If you aren't experiencing any other symptoms I wouldn't worry too much about it. I experience this all the time. But I'm not a doctor so it may be worth mentioning to your GP
That would have freaked me out. I realize it could be "old blood" but if it was me, I'd be calling the doc.

When I was on Yasmin, my periods were REALLY dark. No biggie, there is a range of normal. I guess it was just hormonal. My periods have been different almost every month since my surgery, easy, heavy, crampy, horrible, long, short...no real normal yet. I guess a lot of things are happening in my body. This particular month was awesome...terrible backache, gurgly stomach, diarhea, exhaustion, heavy flow...Just a treat!!! My heating pad is better to snuggle with than any boyfriend :P.

I have had so many problems down there over the years including pre-cancerous cells in my cervix that was causing a lot of bleeding and I never regularly got my period which was why the lining of the uterus built up I also have PCOS, but I had that too (really, really dark almost black blood) is it clots or is it unclotted? Either way, not good and I would contact a Gynocologist or your GP when you can, the sooner the better!
