6 month follow-up!
i had my 6 month follow up from my gastric bypass last July. Things are going quite well. My issues with the stricture have mostly passed, although they tell me they used the smaller balloon and I could go get a 3rd stretch if necessary.
The blood work came back and was pretty good. A slight vitamin A deficiency, so now I'm taking a small pill once a week. Anyone else have issues with A?
i enjoyed the meeting with the physiotherapist. Good to know that other people struggle a bit with their balance and I appreciated the advice on protecting my lower back when starting weight training again.
My highest recorded weight was 272 and I'm now at 180. They think 170 or so is a reasonable target for me. Size 24 to 14 pants. 3X to XL shirts. An amazing 16.5 inches from my waist!
Next step is to go to the sleep clinic for a re-test.

Approved by local centre Apr. 2014. Sleep apnea follow-up May 2014. OTN apt with Dr. Sullivan Jun. 5/14. Surgery July 7, 2014.
You are doing and amazing job. My surgery was in July as well and since then they found that I also have a Vitamin A deficiency which I take a little gel cap for once a day. In January I fell down the stairs and not quite sure why this happened, I really hope it was not a balance problem. Have you had any issues using your CPAP?

That's great news. Have you noticed a difference with your cpap machine? I had to get my pressure lowered by half within 4 months of surgery, and am getting retested later this spring. It really is quite amazing what this surgery can do for us, isn't it?

Truthfully, I stopped using my machine. I never did get the hang of the mask, after multiple model tries, and the pressure was never right either. My husband says I stopped snoring when I got down to 230 lbs. I sleep throught the night (no peeing 3 times) and feel no fatigue in the mornings. Nevertheless, I'm going back to the clinic for a new study. They mentioned at my 6 month appointment that the MTO will have to be notified if I no longer have sleep apnea. Right now, if I got I into an accident, the card from my machine could be used to prove that I'm not following treatment. So I better get this dealt with now! Besides, if I still do have sleep apnea I need to get my mask figured out.

Well hopefully you will no longer need it. It took me a long time to get used to my machine..I would say months and months. Now I feel weird without it. Funny how that works.
I bet your husband is relieved you no longer snore. lol.
Good luck with everything.

That is very interesting about the CPAP and the MTO, I had no idea. I think I will have to have another sleep study because sometimes I wake up and my mouth is incredibly dry, or other times I wake up and both my upper and lower teeth are very painful. As none of this happens during the day I think it might be CPAP related.

CC:
You might be clenching, grinding your teeth. I have been wearing an appliance for years, not related to weight, as a nice change. Maybe see a dentist about that, they check for wear and mobility on your chompers...
I too have stopped wearing my CPAP, snoring has stopped, and I feel reckless now...
Solstice thanks for the advice, I will give my dentist a call. I would love to stop wearing the CPAP, but want to wait until I lose more weight before I request another sleep study. You go with your bad self you reckless girl, lol.
