might be a bit of to much information. I am 6mths post op doing amazing with weight loss 102lbs however I have never been able to vomit since surgery it just won't come up no matter what. I get the nausea but have never been able to vomit, I have tried everything because the feeling is awful im thinking something is wrong if I can't physically vomit has anyone ever had this issue? Aside from this I have no other issues or concerns. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am 5 years out and I can get dry heaves but I can not vomit. I have learned though when I start to feel nausea not to go to far from the bathroom because if you can not vomit than it will come out the other end.  Not fun but I have learned to live with it. If the nausea is not to bad than I find laying down in a ball will help. Good Luck.

I can't vomit either, I think it is due to our tummies being small. We just dont have the oompth as we used to.

It's a pretty common observation for RNY post-ops. I don't know all of the science, but I suspect it has to do with the rerouted intestines, small pouch emptying directly into the intestine, food moving through fairly quickly not leaving much to "throw up". Also contributing would be a lack of gastric juices to really get things churning around in there. I too have had dry heaves, but I have to say, it most commonly has happened when I've been a little too dehydrated. Keep an eye on your fluids, it may be preventable.

Thank You guys very much im sure it's all of the above things it makes sense with the lack of stomach fluid and how small the pouch is. I just hate the feeling of having to vomit and not being able too but a small price to pay for such a healthier lifestyle and being able to enjoy my children, we have been tobogganing and snowboarding which I never would have been able to do last winter.
