Sleep Study Question
is it absolutely mandatory?
My husband has sleep apnea and he loooves his cpap, it changed his life, our life. I've never had issues sleeping or waking up. I have fatigue but that's not from lack of sleep it's from MS (which is awesome! *insert sarcasm emoji*).
I've not been told to have one yet (I'm just at the beginning of this journey) but I'm dreading it (pun intended). I have dreadlocks and from what I know about these sleep studies is they need to put a whole lot of goop on your head to make everything stick. I'm not looking forward to that.
Will they just take my word for it and not make me do? First world problem I suppose.
If they require you to do the sleep ap test then you have no choice if you want to move forward, that honestly was the worst part for me of this whole process, I have sleep apnea and had to purchase the sleep ap machine and force myself to sleep with it in order to get a record for the doctor. She wouldn't approve me until she had results that I was actually using my machine and it was a pain to adjust.
Here in Ottawa, as part of my intake questionnaire, they asked me the questions on the STOPBANG test (http://www.stopbang.ca/) that helped them gauge if I needed to be tested for sleep apnea.
Take the test yourself and determine if you think they will ask you to have the test done. If they do ask you to have it done, there's no getting around it. You will definitely have to get it booked and completed.
