Low weight loss on Optifast and indication of slow weight loss after surgery?

I have only lost 10 pounds on Optifast and my surgery is this Friday, most of it in the first week. I know from previous dieting that my body does not like starvation diets. I do understand that the purpose is to shrink my liver, not too lose weight and 10 pound is better than nothing. I am not complaining, I am just wondering if there are any correlation with post-op weight loss.

My question is, if this is an indication that I will be slow loser post-surgery? I would like to hear from other members who did not had great number on Optifast. What happened post-op and what surgery you had?

I lost 9 lbs on optifast, in two weeks… Which compared to most, seemed pretty low. I however lost in the high 20's lbs, can't remember exactly) but I believe it was 25-27lbs, my first month post op. Try to not obsess over it, it will happen, if you stick to the plan. Good luck!

You usually do not lose a lot on opti. The real weight loss starts after surgery. Just relax the weight will come off.

I think everyone is diff on Opti.....some will be constipated, some not......some will lose more than others.....I'm day 2, down 3.5 lbs but don't expect to get past 10-12 on Opti.....do what you're doing, it can't hurt!! Good luck

Thank you for all your encouragement. The scale dropped 3 pounds this morning, total weight loss 13 and my surgery is tomorrow.

Libra1 - I am glad to hear that. I am having a sleeve too and I was a bit concerned if I am having the right procedure. I spoke to the surgeon yesterday and she said the metabolic changes for both surgeries are similar.

I am good and very excited for my surgery tomorrow morning at 8am.
