HRRH RN/Nur/Social appt. question
That is a really great attitude. So often people are in such a rush to surgery that they don't give themselves time to learn/change thoughts and behaviours that led us to being morbidly obese in the first place. You've also got a great headstart on this by already seeing a nutrionist and therapist - good for you.

I am also out of HRRH. I found the Nurse did not ask questions so much as relayed information anout what to expect post-op. 8 days of blood thinner injections, staying within an hour drive to the hospital for a week, the need for Prevacid post-op, How opti-fast is taken, etc.. She checked my vitals (temp, pulse, blood pressure,etc...) We discussed all the medication I'm currently on and what needed to be adjusted now and post-op. She discussed the Vitamin requirements pre and post-op as well. We also discussed my current health problems Arthritis,etc.. The Dietitian/Nutritionist asked me a lot of questions !!!!!! What is RNY? How is it performed? Why do you want to have RNY? What are the dietary changes post-op ? What are the diet stages post-op ?? Complications of RNY ?? (did not need to know %) What foods can cause problems post-op ? Cooking techniques that benefit RNY patients ? etc... We discussed changes I've already started making to ensure success post-oo. The Social Worker was more into my personal stuff, Do you have a good support system? Are you financially prepared for RNY costs ? Emotional eating and what you have done to correct these habits pre-op ? Mental Health History questions (Are you depressed,etc...)

I met with all my appointments on the same day, got lucky. The only one who asked me to come back was the Social Worker at HRRH, I didn't understand why as I felt all went well. The nurse and nutritionist were great. Actually, they are all great.
The social worker asked about the risks involved and if I knew what they do to the stomach in an RNY...those types of questions, then asked about my home life and such which I had nothing negative to say.
Good luck and believe
