How many cups of broth allowable while on Opti?
Hello all,
How many cups of broth are you allowed on Opti? I have been averaging three warm cups per day with ho****er added to water it down but now I am thinking this might be too much. The package details per serving are: 1 cup at: sugars 0 grams, 1 gram protein and 1 gram carbohydrate.
I checked my sheet and it didn't specify how many cups, it just said "chicken broth"
Should I just stick to one cup a day? What did you do?
I usually had 2 , one at lunch at one while sitting at night in front of the Box ! I don't think there is a limit but I will just say , watch the sodium level .If you have too much then you're running into huge amounts of sodium , which is just not good , and can cause your body to retain water ......which is no good for your numbers on the scale either :( .
Good luck with the rest of your Opti Journey ! Your big day will be here before you know it !

Hi Jax!
My surgery date is February 4th. I am very excited and not at all nervous yet. I never thought I'd ever be excited for a surgery. I am going to have it with Dr. Aarts out of Toronto East General Hospital. I had hoped for TWH or St. Mike's, but Dr. Aarts is so wonderful that I am counting my blessings.
I am day 6 of Opti and it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Benefibre added to my broth has been my friend! And I never knew I would actually enjoy drinking black coffee, but I do!
Jax I have a question - did you drink coffee before surgery and if so, are you drinking it now and if yes how are you taking it? My NUT told me to drink only decaf coffee after surgery and to take it slow, but I have read here on OH that others have regular coffee right away.
And how is your energy level? Are you sleeping lots?

Hey ,
Yeah I drank one cup of Nescafe Hazelnut in the morning , and when meeting my work girlies or whatever I'd have the odd French Vanilla at Timmies . I was never a hard core coffee drinker . After surgery , I didn't go back to my Nescafe until 3 weeks out. And that was only after extensive reading about it ( im a nervous Nellie !) and finding so many different opinions on the subject . I weighed it up and because I only have one a day ,I just allowed myself it . I am in no way condoning it !!!! Lol ......The French Vanilla is a ' Never again " for me ,I can't believe how many calories and sugar a in those. My nescafe has 5 cals per tablespoon and I actually add some of my premier protien shake to it for ' milk' , no more cream and I never did take sugar in it .
There are so many things that differ depending on who you are talking to . I think you really need to weigh up your own options and see what you are comfortable with . Obviously we are all commited to this and don't want to jeopardize anything . For me ,I know myself and I know what to avoid to stay off a slippery slope .....The coffee was not one of those things for me so I'm good with it . Diet Pepsi on the other hand.......... :( I've done so much reading on the whole carbonation subject . But the just of it is I shouldn't drink it . So for now , I'm staying away ! But I miss it !!!!! Lol
Energy levels are good , but then I'm not back at work yet , so I'm sure that may change when I am ; )
I sleep ok ,before surgery had these fantasies of lots of naps in front of the fire , lazy days at home after dropping the boy at school .......never happened !! Lol ...too many Seasons of The Good Wife to watch !! lol ......
Take care doll x Hope this helps xx
