I think I had the fastest surgery time given ever. Met the surgeon on a Friday...had the surgery the following Wednesday LOL

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Definitely well worth it and you'll be thrilled about being on the bench before you know it.

I would do it all again if I had to. I'm almost 1 year out, down about 125 lbs in total, and the centre is telling me I should stop where I am as I am on the low end of their goal range for me. (That shocked me, to be honest. I still want to lose 20 lbs or so.)

Hang in there through the Opti and know that this decision could possibly save your life. If nothing else, it'll change it, and definitely for the better! Wishing you loads of luck as you march forward to surgery!
