Question for the TWH Peeps
Oh wow, I didn't think we had a choice either. I have a band, not sure if that will determine which surgery I have, but hoping for RNY.
One week to go for you, very exciting!!!
Thanks for responding :-)
My pleasure. All the voices of experience on the various forums said you had no choice so maybe it was a one off day for the assistant.
But yes I'm happy its the RNY as I need all the help I can get.
I'm trying not to think too much about it being just a week away. Just trying to get down one Optifast at a time. I actually like them but they definitely don't beat pizza, or ice cream or chicken wings........
Hi T!
I am going through TWH and had my only surgeon appointment with Dr. Jackson on December 19th. I met with him and the nurse, reviewed the surgery options/risks/questions and signed consent forms. They booked my surgery date (February 17th) and prescribed Opti. This had to be paid for and then the order was faxed to the distributor. (They shipped to my home within 1 day.) Because I travelled a long distance for the appointment the nurse also booked my PATS bloodwork and ECG for the same day. The rest will be done via Telehealth.
Overall the appointment went very well - nothing new that hadn't already been discussed at previous meetings. It was great to meet Dr. Jackson, and he is actually doing my surgery at TWH. Initially my clinic date was with Dr. Grantcharov which meant I would have been having surgery at St. Michael's.

Hi K,
Thanks for your post. It is so great to hear from folks going through the same centre.
A process that seemed so long at the start is beginning to move faster. I'm so thankful for this support system, it's great!!!
T.
OMG yay!! Very exciting, you'll do great! Please keep us posted. All the best for a speedy recovery!!
Hi
I had Dr. Urbach too and the appointment went pretty quick. He also clarified which surgery I wanted (RNY Sleeve) and why. From there we went over the possible complications and then he said I was a good candidate and booked my surgery. A nurse or receptionist took my payment for the opti and I was booked for my pre op testing and my surgery for a month later.
Best wishes and hold on cause things do move fast from here.
Good luck!
Wow, that's great! All stories seem pretty consistent, so I should most likely have the same experience, fingers crossed!!
Thanks for posting :-)
Thanks Dreamy, that would be great!
I hate waiting, so I figure in the meantime, I will hunt and gather as much info that I can...it tends to ease me...patience is not one of my virtues :)
