Saw the Imitation Game a couple of days ago. It really made me think and I am still angry at how inhumane the world can be can be.

Suppose to have company today for my kids birthdays. My son lives with a nice girl and I invited her parents. I will be surprised if they come with the weather that is coming in. They live up north in the middle of no where. I still have cooking to do. Made lasagne but am also making stuffed shells. I will only eat the insides of the shells. I will also have a bite of cake. My calories seem low so I must have calculated wrong.

Out to walk the dog and pick up bread from Cobbs,

b greek yogurt, granola, raspberries

l turkey barley soup

d chicken with cheese, salad, bite of cake,

s glass of wine

cal 1312, prot 92

This is not a normal menu but it is my son's 31st and my daughter's 27th birthday

Oh yes, I want to see that one too! There are a few movies that I wouldn't mind seeing, actually. I think I might have a free movie pass or two as well. Maybe that's what we'll do today if hubby feels like it. Or maybe not, since the weather is supposed to be so awful.

Hi Tanya and everyone else! Feels so good to be back on track with posting the day's menu here. It's working, too - getting those extra few pounds of holiday weight off.  As long as I'm in the 180's, I'm happy, but I'd rather be in the lower end than the higher end! :)

Not sure what we're doing today. I have to get out at some point to buy fixings for homemade guacamole that we'll be taking to a family dinner tomorrow with the hubby's family.  The last of the holiday dinners! But this one will be pretty low-key food-wise. Our niece is cooking up a batch of chili (perfect!) and then we all bring side dishes of various sorts. I'll probably bring some cut veggies too so that I can dip them in the guac instead of chips. (Although I'm sure if there are chips there, I won't be able to resist a couple of them.)

Anyhow, I did cook that chicken tagine FINALLY last night. I had a bit of a NSV yesterday, actually. We were out shopping yesterday afternoon at a mall (I have two January birthdays in my family), and suddenly it was 5 p.m. and I was starving. Didn't notice the time passing so quickly. I was so tempted to hit the food court with the hubby, who probably wouldn't have objected, but I totally resisted and decided, no, I'm going to finally cook that chicken I have on my menu for today. On the way home, I was seriously thinking about going out for supper, but told myself, no, we just spent a mint going out for supper for New Year's Eve, and I have chicken just waiting to be cooked at home. I even told my husband, "I'm so hungry that I don't know if I'm going to be able to stand cooking tonight." Then I got hold of myself and realized, dummy, you can HAVE A SMALL SNACK while you're cooking! So that's exactly what I did. Went home, cooked the meal, it was delicious, satisfying, and on plan.

Kind of proud of myself, because that's not how things have been happening over the last couple of months. I have some creeping patterns to break.

2 YEARS POST-RNY

B - 1/2 cup ricotta/vanilla/splenda mix with 1/2 oz of slivered almonds

S - 1/2 serving bag of edamame beans

L - 50g smoked salmon on 1 slice of toasted P28 bread, spread with light cream cheese and some dill and capers sprinkled on top

S - Another 1/2 cup ricotta/vanilla/splenda mix, and a clementine orange (the ricotta thing is total comfort food for me, that's why I eat it so much)

D - Leftover chicken tagine on 1/4 cup basmati

S - Fancy coffee or tea made with frothed skim milk - will count 1 cup of skim milk.

Have a great day, everyone!

I love these threads and making note of things that will help me, starting a menu etc :)

1.  What is protein coffee and where would you get it??

2.  What is the yummiest way to prepare edamame beans?

3. What is P28 Bread and where do you get it?

4. Chike iced coffee.  Where can I buy just a few sample packs first? Can you only order this online?

5. What would be your suggestion for best low fat granola?

Thanks everyone!!
