Overeaters Anonymous ???
I keep thinking I will attend OA to help deal with all the emotional eating issues that were not cured by surgery, but for some reason I've been avoiding it. As time goes on I know I will need to address these issues to be successful in meeting my goals.
I was just wondering if any of you have been involved with OA and what were you"re experiences? What other types of support or counselling have you explored? Are there any services available to us (without cost) in Ontario?
Thx...Jane
Utilize the supports at your centre. They usually have social workers, psychologists and physiatrists.
Regularly attend your local support group. Do coffee chats with other Wls patients. Stay active on this site or in Facebook groups - wherever you find support.
Talk with mentors. Find people you respect and trust who have gone through it.
Look into eating disorder programs in your area when needed. Often they are attached to anorexia programs. I am a binge eater and did a program through mine.
OA is one that many use. It may not be relevant til it feels relevant like when you are struggling. It may or may no appeal to you.
Ive also done weigh****chers and currently starting with TOPS again to make me accountable.
Good luck. The journey never ends.

TWH has a research study on mindful eating, but it was for patients who underwent WLS 1 or more years ago. I believe it may be filled already, but you can contact Dr. Susan Wnuk @ [email protected] or 416-603-5800 ext 2186
