Hi,

I am 8.5 months post op and must admit I am a little frustrated.  My weight has been 165 to 167 now for over a month, maybe more.  My hair has started to grow back and I am wondering if this means that I am done and now need to maintain?  I thought weight loss continued due to mallabsorption up to 1.5 years out.  The centre identified that my goal was 170 and I have surpassed it a little.  I am a size 10/medium and am quite fit due to working out.  I would like to get to 160 or 150 but am now thinking this may not be realistic.

all you veterans, - When did you stop losing weight after surgery?

Also any suggestions on how to get things moving again?

Feedback would be appreciated.

Happy New Year everyone!

Kelly

The last 10-20 lbs can be really slow. Just track what you are eating and se if you can trim something. Good luck and Happy New Year

Remember you want to be able to live day to day at your settled weight Perhaps if you live in maintance your body will finish where you will be comfortable and can manage in the long run.

I would be surprised if your weight loss has stopped, I'm sure if you change up a few things your weight loss might start again.  Good luck!

I reached my goal weight at 17 months post-RNY (from a BMI of 53 to 22). You are not finished. Measure your portions and track your food. Make sure you are limiting your crappy carbs. Take your measurements. You may still be losing inches. Hang in there!!

After the first six months it was slow, but I kept losing until 18 months.  Some months it was only a pound or two.  Maintenance really does not start for us until about year three.  That is when malabsorption no longer keeps weight from going up and the real work begins.
