Waiting to start

I have been peeking around the site for little while reading the post daily enjoying what everyone has to say learning a lot. Thought I would finally say hi and introduce myself .. Just like everyone else I have been overweight most of my life. Tried everything would lose and gain back...  When I saw my family Dr in late October of this year she ask me if I have ever thought about gastric bypass.. She has two patients that had the surgery doing very well and wants to send the referral in  I was unsure but said yes go ahead with it. She told me it will take little over a year before I hear from Humber river.. Waiting patiently to start new journey...

Welcome to the forum!  The people here are so helpful and kind and have some excellent insight on pretty much every question you could possibly have. 

Some other good news, you should hear from Humber in a couple months with a date for Orientation.  The entire process from referral to surgery is about a year, give or take.

This is an amazing supportive group of people.  Research your heart out and ask lots of questions so you are ready when they call.

Welcome !!!!! It shouldn't take that long to hear from them. I was referred in May 2014 and I have my surgery date for March 2015. My advice if you don't hear from them within 12 weeks start looking into it. Be your own best advocate and don't get lost in the system. Goid-Luck :-)

 I am also a newbie here, and everyone is so helpful.  I am going through Humber River and have just started my journey also.  Had my orientation on Dec. 1/14 and am waiting to get my first set of appts.  

Please don't hesitate to ask all your questions.  Everyone is awesome.

Thank you everyone for the welcomes, hoping to hear from them in January. I was so unsure about this journey but after researching and reading about others people journey specially the ones that are so far out and doing well.. I am ready to start this process seeing if I will be approved... 

I just heard from Humber, my referral was sent in October.  I have the first appt in the beginning of February....   I hope you hear soon

Just curious to know when your orientation was.  I was also referred in October and had my orientation Dec 1.  Guess I'm just hoping that I will get my first appts. soon..  :)
