Fitbit
Does anyone here regularly wear/use a Fitbit? Do you find it useful/motivating? I am considering buying one but not sure how "gimmicky" they are. Apparently there is a Fitbit "Charge HR" coming out in January 2015 that has the same functionality but also an integrated heart rate monitor which would presumably give more accurate readings.

Hi Emily
I love my fitbit one. I have used it everyday for 3 years - I am on my second one ( don't put it thru the washing machine...lol).
I actually find it has changed my behaviour - which is really incredible that a device can change your thinking. I always take the stairs - unless more then 15 - walk the golf course - and the first thing I do is check to see my steps afterward - park far away at the grocery store etc etc.
I could never wear the wrist device - it would bother me - but the fitbit one fits right on my bra - love it!
Yup like Birdie it has changed my way of thinking....... I too park at the end of parking lots now. I actually hope when I pull into a parking lot with my hubby they have nothing close and he has to park far away and walk with me
I take the stairs now
And I give myself daily and weekly targets and goals and it's like a treat to myself when I hit those goals!!
I love my fitbit flex (wrist one). It's synched to my phone & my fitness pal & has been tremendous in helping me to stay on track

Hi Emily
Luv my Fitbit, look at it everyday and am disappointed if I don't get my steps. My husband has one also. Sometimes Kelly sets up challenges within our group (which I find extrememly motivating).
Even if I know I wont get my steps I still wear it day and night and I'm extremely upset if I forget it.
Perhaps I'll do another challenge in the New Year. It is motivating, but can be somewhat tiresome for me to be chasing people for numbers :/

Totally love my fitbit. It keeps me accountable for my exercise. My daughter who just turned 10 had to have one just to try and keep up! Also, I had to work with their customer service because mine was not charging and I had a new fit bit flex within three days. I also have the flex and love that it tracks sleep time too!
