Follow up with my PS . Some would rejoice, but....
I can't imagine that it would be. I was surprised that she didn't say I could go back and exercise next week. The seroma has decreased significantly that I thought it was gone, but it's still there, and bigger than I thought. It's about 3/4 the length of my scar (which is now past hip to hip). So, I do as she says, and I lay off. Oh well.
Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
Some of us would love to be told to lay off the exercise. This too shall pass. With my abdominal issues I am only allowed to walk and even that has an affect on the abdomen. The split in the abdominus rectus muscle now goes from my lower tummy tuck scar almost up to my bra line. When I pull up I have a huge cone sticking out of my belly. They don't seem to be in a hurry to fix it though.
Buy a few good books that you never had time to read before. You will be busy during the holidays anyway.
Hugs to you anyway!

Ohhh! Sorry to hear that Linda. How did that happen?
Its almost funny that i wish I could exercise. Such a difference.

I had a Fleur de Lis Tummy tuck in 2009. Amazing results and super flat tummy, scars faded to nothing. Then I had open bowel resection for an Intussusception in December 2012. Horrible central scar from that surgery. The muscle started to open up under the skin not too long after that surgery. It has been creeping up ever since so now the whole muscle is torn and I have this sticking out belly all of the time now. I am so mad that they won't fix it right now.

OMG wow! I can't believe they won't fix it either! I was lucky that I had laproscopy for my bowel obstruction. They did, however, have to go through the muscle that was tightened as well. So, I won't be as flat as I was pre-obstruction and pre-gallbladder removal, but I think i'm ok for now!!
Anyone you can fight to have it fixed? And you said "right now" will they fix it at some point?

I hear you Kelly! I'll be going for another round of plastics next week (arms and legs), and will have to take a six week break from my weight training and kickboxing (and running too, but don't love that as much in the winter!). But it is very funny how our priorities shift, and that exercise has become such an important and central part of our lives! Love it!!
Heal well! End of February will be here before you know it!

Wow! Only 6 weeks? That surprises me. I know every PS is different, but i'm surprised it's only that short of time. Maybe because muscle isn't involved?

Yup. Only six weeks. Even my tummy tuck/hernia repair was only six weeks off (the hernia repair doctor said the same). But of course, I took it fairly easy to start, and really didn't start core exercises until about 10 weeks. But at least I was able to get started on some cardio, and weight training with less core work. I certainly held off on kickboxing until I felt like my core could handle it...closer to twelve weeks.
This surgery should be easier. No real muscle tightening work...just excess skin...though there's something about hooking some of my flesh onto my hip bone...I'm trying not to concentrate too much on the details...just get it done! :) I trust my PS. He's been great, and did a fantastic job with the tummy tuck...it's just too bad I had the second internal hernia repair a couple of weeks later with an open procedure...it did mar his work. But as I told him after, I was never going to be a bikini model...too many existing stretch marks for that!
