The dietician from HRRH called on Friday to give me the results of my 3 month blood work.  I have had blood issues for years and most recently HRRH had me on Fer n sol to bring up the levels but now that I am able to take pill form want me to switch over to Feramax which is great to me but when I took the fer n sol I also took a 500mg vitamin c.  I am now not sure if I should continue a vitamin c or not.  I called the dietician on Friday but noone has gotten back to me yet and I have read on here others that take feramax so if anyone can let me know that would be helpful.  Also, feramax causes bowel issues is this something that will go away on it's own once your body gets used to it or is it always a problem...never trust a fart. Thanks, Lori

I haven't had any bowel issues with FeraMAX, not sure where you read that. There is no harm in taking some vitamin c in reasonable doses.

Feramax gave me diarrhea the first few weeks and it's a known side effect.  I took mine with Vitamin C.

Tracey,  That is the side effect I read about too and it is my problem.  It's the first time I have had this since surgery and was hoping it will be short term.  Thanks for the info I will continue with 1 vitamin ****il the clinic gets back to me.

Hi,

I had the same problem when I increased my dosage to 2 capsules per day. After discussions with OKNEE (Leona dove) our resident iron specialist theironmaiden.ca it was suggested that it could be the capsule itself causing this. I now empty the contents into about a half a cup of water and mix. No problems since then. Be careful opening it because your fingers will get really black lol, I also tried taking it with food but opening the capsule seemed to work best for me. I don't think you need to take the feramax at the same time as vitamin c but I guess it wont hurt. I called the 1 800 number on the bottle and they were very helpful there. Just make sure you tell them that you are a bariatric client.

Good luck

I also listened to Leona about taking FeraMax150. I was taking it once a day with 1000g of vitamin C.

I told TWH (Katie) that I was doing this and she was fine with it. After looking at my blood work results, she told me to take it twice per day.

I don't have any issues with going to the washroom
