hi all,

had as anyone tried popcorn since surgery? How long do you suggest I wait before trying it?

I had a few pieces but was afraid to eat the hard part, that the hard part would get stuck.  Not a big fan of it, but I never really was.  What about one of those simply protein packets?  They are nice and crunchy and much healthier too. Also thought of bringing grok, which is parmesan cheese chips, delicious.

I love popcorn. It is one of my favorite snacks. I'm only 23 days out so haven't tried it yet but would really love to know when people tried it. In my house everyday someone has popcorn and I love the smell. The 2 foods I have missed the most are popcorn and pickles.

Thanks for asking this.... I will be watching for answers.

I'm almost 9 months out and at about 6 months, I tried a few pieces of popcorn, to see how it went down. I loved the stuff pre-op, so I was hoping I would get to try it again and enjoy it post-op. I know it's just filler though and doesn't give me nutrients so it's a treat. And thus something I really shouldn't get into before the 18-month mark.

However, I have had a small handful here or there but I've not yet sat down to enjoy a small portion of it. I am sure I will when I am closer to maintenance, but while I'm still losing and in the 'honeymoon phase' of WLS, I want to maximize it. Popcorn won't be on my 'regular foods' list anytime soon. Maybe by next summer I'll be ready to enjoy it a little more frequently. One step at a time. (And no, I wouldn't touch the kernels now for fear of them causing issues. Only soft, fully popped pieces for me!)

I had it at three months out. And it was the first food that I could eat a lot of. I put it down for a long time after that. Empty calories.
