Hi all

Hope to get some advise.  I am almost  5 month post op and still having hard time getting my multivitamin  down. . I am currently  using equate  women's 50 plus. I have to cut in half and always gag at the taste. . I think I read somewhere  on here someone was using equate prenatal  multi... Does it have all the requirements.  As well since I am 50 plus my husband  might question  me if I bring this home... lol

Yes the prenatal vitamins have all that we need in them and then some. I'd say give them a go. I started taking them around 6 to 6.5 months out.

EDITED TO ADD...I started whole pills late because I was a nervous Nelly lol...and had no problems at all!

Good luck!

I use natures bounty prenatal multi with omega. It's a soft gel, and really easy to swallow.

Hey Jen, are they small enough to swallow whole (i.e., not chewable)?  Do you think I'd be able to manage them shortly after surgery?  Any option that would help avoid a chewable would rock!

Hey lady! They were giving me full pills in the hospital hours after surgery. I had no problems swallowing them. I guess everyone is different. These soft gels are really easy to go down. Not super tiny, but the shape and coating makes them an easy swallow.

Good to know!  I'm definitely going to check those out!  I'll buy some and bring them with me to the PATTS appointment and ask if they think it would be ok for me to take them right after surgery.  You've never had an issue with one getting stuck?  If not, that's awesome news and you may have just solved one of my biggest concerns for the post-surgery period!

I just got off the phone with Lorainne from TWH, the nutritionist and asked her if it were OK for me to continue on with full pills, and mentioned this one, she said absolutely, as long as I'm not having trouble swallowing, that it's completely fine.

That's awesome -- takes a huge load off my mind.  Personally, I find the chewables totally putrid, and I was worried that this revulsion was going get even worse after surgery when my tastes are all messed up.  Thanks so much for this suggestion!

I am 2 years post op in 4 days. I have been taking a prenatal since day 1. Just got my lab work back and my folate is quite high from them. Had to switch to a 50+ vitamin. My lab work other than that were great, though! (my B12 is super super high as well!) it is 987 and the referance range is 198-615. Easier to bring levels down since it requires less vitamins, low would require more!

Have you tried the liquid ones or putting the protein/vitamin powders on something?
