Fourth Referral. So Frustrated!!!!

So I went to see my doctor this past Monday, and guess what.....for a FOURTH time I am being referred to get the surgery.  I am so frustrated beyond belief, and then my doctor had the audacity to blame me for it being the fourth time because I smoked before....I have now been quit smoking for close to a year (in total)!!!! Yes I had a relapse and smoked for a week before quitting again, however I have been smoke free for over the 6 months required. I am beyond frustrated and am so tired of being treated like crap by my doctor, but don't want to go on the Health Care Connect list and prolong the possibility of getting the surgery for even longer!!!!

Well give it time and call the registry and check if it has gone through. If not, get any specialist to make a referral.  Keep your eye out for a new family doc too.  Having a good doc post op is important.

Thank you so much for the kind words, I am sorry everyone for the vent.  I am just so frustrated by this process already and I don't even feel like I have started the process really.  Grrrr.  I am going to talk to my psychiatrist today and see if this referral fails if she can refer me.  Cause she wants me to have the surgery, but then again so does my doctor, or so she says....yet she doesn't do the referrals correctly or whatever.

I had a doctor in a city that I hadn't lived in for a long time so obviously he could not do the referral for me. Here's what I did, and maybe it will work for you? Firstly, cancel your doctor through Care Connect. Then find a clinic locally that is accepting new members. I say clinic because there are nurse practitioners that are almost always accepting new patients. This process only took a few days for me, which was awesome. I saw her the following week and she sent in my referral. By the time I did get a family doctor through Health Care Connect I was well on my way through the process.  Hope this helps.

Referral - Feb 25th, 2014. Info Session - April 7th
Surgeon#1 - May 15th  Dr. Glazer - July 23rd, Dietitian/Social Worker/RN - Aug 1st, Surgeon #2 - Sept 10th, Surgery - Dec 16th, 2014!

I was told by the registry that even a walk-in clinic doctor can refer you as I had problems with my physician at the time following the very simple instructions online.

Best of luck!

Thank you so much guys! I really appreciate it! I am thinking of getting rid of my doctor after Monday's appointment.

IT took me 3 referrals too. Don't worry, you will get there. If anything this process teaches you the art of patience & surrender...
