Requirements?

Just wondering?

I am so worried that once the process starts for me I will be rejected for some reason or another so I want to make sure I have everything I need for when I start my appointments.

What requirements or anything do I need or need to know before I go?

I know BMI is one and mine is 49 so I know that is not a issue.

Let me know if I should get stuff I need together before.

Start journalist your food/eating habits. If you drink coffee or pop, try to quit or reduce the amount, document those as well. Do you smoke? Better quit if you do. I'm sure others will have extra advice.

Make a list of diets/programs you've been on.  Regular medical history.  They'll tell you everything on the way.  There will be some tests that you will have to do, including a sleep study.  Some of these tests are booked in advance, but once you have an appointment, you can call and get on a cancellation list.

I would add to highlight any doctor monitored diets -- either through a specialist, family doc, naturopath, etc.  as well as anything like Weigh****chers, Dr. Bernstein, Paleo, South Beach, etc.  that you have tried.  They were more interested in the supervised diets and they asked why they didn't work.  They also asked me how much I lost with each try.

The sleep study was the hardest for me as it takes time to book it like anything else they were booking way in advance.  I also thought I had a hiatus hernia.  I waited six months to have a scope only to find out I did not have one after all.  in the meantime I was not able to properly control my diabetes and during the year + that I waiting for bariatric surgery I suffered from neuropathy in my feet which I still have to deal with to this day.  it was very aggravating.  not only that but sometime before my surgery I learned that it was normal for the surgeon to perform a gastric sleeve procedure on those that suffered from hernias as they are very common.  so if I had kept my mouth shut I would have had surgery much faster and I wouldn't have suffered the neuropathy!  oy  Happily my diabetes is almost gone, I am only on one medication for it now and I was on insulin.  Actually despite all that I have nothing but gratitude and respect for the clinic.  I find them to be a very compassionate caring team.

Once you are accepted into the program you will progress to surgery.
if yo have sleep apnea or suspect you do arrange a sleep atudy. If you have stomach issues arrange a scope. These studies can be forwarded to the centre you are referred to
