Hello all, I was just wondering how much time do you need to book off work for the surgery and healing time. Is it 4-6 weeks?

They do a basic guess for 4 - 6 weeks.  I had to have a Dr. note to get it off, and it stated 4 weeks, but they would review then.  It depends on how well you heal, and what you do for work.

Depends on the type of job you do. I am a PSW and Dr Klein put me of for 6 weeks when I had my surgery. The day I got my surgery date I was given the note to take to my employer.

I asked for my note at my surgeon's appointment, and I also asked for it to note 6 weeks of leave (just wanted to be sure that I had enough time to heal and get with the supplements/hydration schedule, and I also wanted to be on soft foods when I go back). At TWH they were very accommodating about this and they provided a note with my surgery date right away.  Hope this helps...

I just actually got my surgeon's note faxed to my employer today and it was just allowing me over 3 weeks off.  My surgery is next Thursday Oct 23rd and the note stated off until Monday Nov. 17.  I was hoping for at least 4 to get comfortable with my food figured out etc :(

I'm only taking a week off, as in fully, no phone, no work related things period. I work from home though, hopefully I can resume some work activities the 2nd week, and have no complications. I am the type who would go mental with six whole weeks off though.

My mother had surgery two years ago and told me she was fine by day three post op. So hopefully I will be as lucky as she was.

I am a bank teller...so mainly sitting all day & went back to work about 1 1/2 weeks after surgery & I was ok. But if I could have taken a full two weeks ...it would have been perfect.

went back 2 weeks post-op.  Felt like I could have went back after a week but I have an office job so not heavy lifting or standing.
