Appointment booked with the surgeon
on 10/8/14 11:23 am - Thunder Bay, Canada
The journey has been a long one, since August 2013 but the last two months is when everything has finally started falling into place. I am excited and scared all at the same time. Have a wonderful support system ( I know not everyone is that fortunate)...from co-workers, friends, and most importantly family. My 84 year old father is 100% behind me and it makes me cry happy tears.
My appointment is next week and although I had initial reservations about having it done before Christmas, I travel home and drive 400 miles and was worried about 7 hours in the car by myself. Has anyone here had to deal with a situation like this?? Any tips?
Hi there,
Are you meaning you hope to drive yourself home after surgery?

I wouldn't think you would have a problem at that point as long as your recovery is typical. You wont be on pain meds due to surgery at that stage and if you are used to driving long distances nothing would be any different than now - other than maybe being a little more tired. I would suggest taking regular breaks to get out, walk around, and make sure you stay hydrated. It will really depend on your recovery.
